The big June festival in Brasilia will have a vegan zone coordinated by FALA.

Conceived by Lucio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer as a shop window in the then newly opened federal capital in 1960, Avenida W3 suffered from the dereliction and impact of the real estate crisis that emerged in the following decades. But a recent movement from Brazil has emerged to continue the revival of the avenue and return it to its glory days.

One such initiative is an event called “Estralada: a Festa Junina da W3 Sul”, programmed to bring culture, sports, recreation, gastronomy and the public to an avenue that lacks historical recognition.

New to the June festival, which will take place on the 11th and 12th from 14:00 to 22:00, is the presence of a completely vegan area in the food court, which will be coordinated by the Action Front for the Liberation of Animals (FALA).

“This will be another rich opportunity for us to present the best of vegan cuisine. It’s also a way to show that it’s possible to cook delicious food without animals at the traditional June festival. FALA could not help but be present at such an important event for Brazilian society,” says FALA President Bruno Pinheiro.

He notes that the participation of FALA and partners in public events in the city makes it traditional in Brasilia to strengthen vegan zones in food courts.

“There used to be very rare vegan options at public events like this. Today, thanks to our work, we have already been able to provide local vegan entrepreneurs with the opportunity to present an extensive menu and a wide variety of products, all without exploiting animals, prompting the public to think more about how their choices affect animals,” explains Bruno. .

Scheduled for June 11 and 12, between 504 sul (sesc) and 506 sul (endless), the party will feature a food court, music, gangs, kids entertainment, and everything else a traditional free open-air party has to offer.

In the end, it will be a great opportunity to showcase the potential of Avenida W3, which once again strengthens its position as an important cultural aggregator center in Brazil. During the days of the festival, the avenue will be closed for cars and open for recreation from 14:00 to 22:00.
